About me

James SailingI caught my first wave at Corner in Melkbosstrand when I was twelve years old. My dad was a mining engineer so we lived inland and never stayed in the same place for more than two years. Luckily for me every school holiday was spent on the coast. After school I went to Stellenbosch University to study Engineering and surf. The fist time I surfed a sizeable wave was at a spot called Paranoia.Paddling back to the peak after that wave I had no doubt in my mind that this is what I wanted. I have been chasing big waves ever since. I live in Melkbosstrand, near Cape Town in South Africa and make most of my money doing photography. I have sailed both ways accross the Atlantic and once over the Indian. My life revolves around preparing for big waves and I spend as much time as I can in the sea.
